Why Herod and Pilate Became Friends

Luke 23:12 – In this fascinating verse, we see that the persecution of Jesus brought Herod and Pilate together.  It notes that they were not friends before, but after abusing and crucifying the Savior, then the men grew close.  It is unclear what brought the enmity between them – neither the Bible nor history spell this out, but it may tie back to an incident recorded in Luke 13 where it is noted that Pilate had  some Galileans killed while they were making sacrifices to God.  Whatever the source of the bad blood, it is noteworthy that evil finds pleasant company with evil when they discover their common cause is persecuting the forces of God.  Today, we see this similar phenomenon with unlikely alliances between sexual minorities, feminists, Muslims, and other groups that are diametrically opposed to one another and yet unite under the banner of rebelling against the Lord.
